Adult Volunteers

Why We Need You! The zoo’s programs and activities would not be possible without volunteer support. Many wonderful volunteers help make our mission a reality. These special people diverse in age, background, and experience are eager to learn more about the environment and how they can preserve and protect it.

How Do I Become a Volunteer at the Cameron Park Zoo?

1) Complete an Volunteer Application

2) Attend a Volunteer Information Session over Zoom! These sessions will give more information over our volunteer program and the next steps on how to start. Our upcoming volunteer information sessions are:

  • May 1st: In person! 10am to 12pm. Check in with the front and they will point you in the right direction!
  • June 4th: In person! 5:30pm to 7:30pm. Check in with the front and they will point you in the right direction.

3) Complete an interview with CPZ Volunteer Staff.

4) Pay non-refundable $45 program fee (only if selected into the volunteer program. Fee waivers are available for selected applicants)

5) Pass a criminal background check if 18 or older. Executed by the City of Waco.

General Requirements to Volunteer:

  • Completed application and interview
  • Signed Liability Release Form
  • Completed Background Check
  • Copy of Driver’s License on file
  • Proof of negative TB test on file
  • Must commit to one year of volunteering, minimum of 4 hours per month (unless otherwise specified)
  • Signed acknowledgement of receipt of Volunteer Guidelines and Contract
  • Training fee – $45.00
  • Completion of online training and attendance at training sessions
  • Completion of required observations
  • Cameron Park Zoo Membership
