Cameron Park Zoological and Botanical Society Positions
Part-Time: Animal Ambassador Educator
Cameron Park Zoo’s Education Department is looking for two part-time Animal Ambassador Educators.
This position will be scheduled and trained by the Education Curator and will work closely with the Animal Ambassador Specialist. Pay will be $17 per hour for 20 hours a week. As a member of the Education Department, the part-time Animal Ambassador Educators will be responsible for:
- Care for Animal Ambassador collection, including diet prep, enrichment and exercising animals
- Presenting animals for education programs (both on and off-site)
- Training animal handling to staff and volunteers
- Assisting with evening education programs
- Setting up and working special events and fundraisers
- Presenting animals for zoo birthday parties
- Teaching a session of Zoo School
- Handling other miscellaneous jobs as assigned
Job Requirements:
- High School Diploma ~some college preferred
- Self-starter with good organizational skills
- Independent worker
- Good communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Proficient in Word, Excel, Google docs, Google Drive, etc.
- Ability to handle Animal Ambassadors, including reptiles and invertebrates
- Able to lift up to 40 pounds
- Able to walk long distances and stay on feet for extended periods of time
- Able to work outside in a variety of conditions
Schedule:
One of the part time Animal Ambassador Educator will work:
Sunday: 8am-5pm
Monday: 8am-12pm
Tuesday: 8am-12pm
Wednesday: 8am-12pm
The second part time Animal Ambassador Educator will work:
Wednesday: 8am-12pm
Thursday: 8am-12pm
Friday: 8am-12pm
Saturday: 8am-5pm
