Zoo Educator

Cameron Park Zoo’s Education Department is looking for part-time Zoo Educator.

As a member of the Education Department, the Zoo Educator would be responsible for: 

• Teaching a session of Zoo School
• Assisting with the care of our Animal Ambassadors
• Facilitating offsite programs such as Zoo Tales to You and tabling at community events
• Facilitating onsite programs such as animal presentations, behind the scenes tours, and field trip add ons 
• Checking in field trip registrations
• Setting up and working special events
• Keeping the Corwin, Estes, Jaynes Education Center in pristine condition
• Handling other miscellaneous jobs as assigned

Job Requirements:

• High School Diploma
• Self-starter with good organizational skills
• Good communication skills
• Excellent customer service skills
• Proficient in Word, Excel, Google docs, Google Drive, ect. 
• Willing to handle Animal Ambassadors, including reptiles and invertebrates
• Able to lift up to 40 pounds 
• Able to walk long distances and stay on feet for extended periods of time
• Able to work outside in a variety of conditions

The Zoo Educator position is part-time as scheduled by the Education Coordinator. Work week would be Thursday-Sunday mornings, depending on the programs scheduled. Pay is $16/hour.
